With no idea what had happened to their parents, the children managed to stay together and were brought to Utah last year through Catholic Community Services' Refugee Foster Care program. After years of hoping against the odds, the family was reunited in Utah in late September. Whenever she feared she would never find her children, Mamesani would pray that tomorrow would be the day she would see them again. "When she worried, she always prayed (to) God, and she prayed, 'Just one (more) day,'" Sorate said, translating. Danielle Stamos, communication director for Catholic Community Services, said the goal of the Refugee Foster Care program is to reunite families whenever possible, but stories like the Mamesanis are rare.
