ADDIS ABABA, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The Ethiopian Federal Police have announced the arrest of an "internationally wanted and dangerous" human trafficker, who has caused the death of more than 100 people. According to the police's investigation, the group has been illegally recruiting and trafficking thousands of young people since 2018, mainly targeting youth from Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, and Somalia. Police reported that extensive investigations and surveillance have found that the group has accumulated more than 3 billion birr (about 19.23 million U.S. dollars) through its illegal human trafficking activities. Investigators were able to obtain testimonies from victims based in Libya, Sudan, Belgium, England, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. Following the arrest and completion of its investigation, including statements from over 100 victims and their families in Ethiopia and abroad, police said it has now forwarded the case to prosecutors.
