US airline safety investigators reportedly are set to blame defective flight control software for the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines plane earlier this month. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that investigators have analyzed the flight data recorder from the Boeing 737 MAX. Authorities have said that this defect could have caused the crash last October of Indonesia's Lion Air, which was the same Boeing jet model. At a news conference Boeing held on Wednesday, officials said the company had already completed software fixes after the crash in Indonesia. But they said upgraded software only made it easier for pilots to override it, and avoided saying the software functioned improperly.
