Ethiopian Religious Leaders Call for ToleranceSeptember 10, 2018 - In a new year greetings, Ethiopian religious leaders called on fellow Ethiopians for tolerance and to live up to their history of living together in harmony, and avoid any acts of hatred and evil deeds in the New Year. The religious leaders extended their best wishes to all Ethiopians in the coming New Year. Deputy President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, Mufti Hajji Omar Idris, on his part urged Ethiopian Muslims to reinforce their support to the ongoing reform. Ethiopia’s Catholic Cardinal Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel urged the youth to stand united for peace and unity of the country. Yonas Yigezu, President of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, stated that the prioritization of peace, love and forgiveness by the new leadership has elevated Ethiopia’s image in the global fora.
