On October 17, 2023, Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) made significant strides in bolstering investment ties with Chinese companies at the Ethiopia-China Investment Forum Series–Beijing Episode II, held in Beijing, China. During the event, the EIC, represented by Commissioner Lelise Neme, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two Chinese pharmaceutical companies and a Chinese agro-processing company. The investment forum attracted more than 300 potential investors and featured keynote speeches from Ahmed Shide, the Ethiopian Finance Minister, and Mrs. Lelise Neme. Discussions centered on the investment potentials in Ethiopia, particularly in the mining sector and other priority areas.
