Ethiopian Defense Forces Celebrate New Year in MekelleSeptember 8, 2018 - The Ethiopian National Defense Force North Division celebrated the Ethiopian New Year in Mekelle yesterday. In attendance were President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome, Tigray Deputy Administrator Dr Debretsion Gebremichael, and Chief or Staff of National Defense Force Saare Mekonnen. President Mulatu called on the National Defense Force to scale-up efforts to defending peace, the constitution, and sovereignty of the country. Dr Debretsion Gebremichael said the Defense Force of Ethiopia is fulfilling its responsibilities given to it by the people and government of Ethiopia. He has also said that Ethiopia's military needs to modernize its forces greatly, noting that not many of our generals have modern education and training.
