Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) reports record revenue from coffee exports

Exports are projected to reach US$1.75 billion by the end of the current fiscal yearIn a recent statement, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) said that coffee exports generated a revenue of US$835.2 million for the country in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, which began on 8 July 2023. Key international markets for Ethiopian coffee products include Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United States, Germany, Japan, and China. This success highlights the significant growth of Ethiopia's coffee industry, which is attributed to comprehensive reforms in the sector. Notably, in the previous fiscal year, Ethiopia earned more than US$1.3 billion from coffee exports and this amount is projected to reach US$1.75 billion by the end of the current fiscal year. Countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Sudan and China, previously absent from the list, are now actively participating in Ethiopian coffee trade.
