The Ethiopian air traffic controllers have been on strike since August 21, 2018, after disputes over pay and employment benefits. “Ethiopian Airspace remains very safe and highly secure even after the illegal strike of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Air Traffic Controllers, said Ethiopian Airlines Group in a statement on Monday. Last year, the Ethiopian civil aviation scored 69.53 percent in air transport safety based on a recent audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). “Ethiopian Airlines has been working in close coordination with the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and the volunteer air traffic controllers, ATC instructors and ATC controllers that it brought from other sister African countries.
