The Ethiopian government has reacted to political developments in next door Sudan in a statement issued by office of the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The Monday, April 15, statement comes almost a week after long-serving Omar al-Bashir was forced out of power by the military. The statement praised protesters for their resilience whiles remaining organized and orderly. It also lauded the military council overseeing the transition for its efforts in heeding the call of the Sudanese people. The military has reiterated that it only wanted to hold defense and interior ministries offering the protesters to nominate a Prime Minister to be in charge of government business.
