Ethiopia has signed the treaty of the African Medicines Agency (AMA). Dr. Lia Tadesse, Ethiopia's Minister of Health, has inked the treaty at the AU headquarters. Ethiopia is the 29th African Union member state to sign the treaty. She also reiterated the importance of the platform to establish a strong regulatory framework and create a vigorous local medical industry in the continent. Although the AMA came into force on 5 November 2021, the African Union Commission expects to have the establishment and operationalization of the agency in full progress by 2023.
