Already, Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has congratulated Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for his victory and pledged to work closely with the new administration. Similarly, Sheikh Mohamud has acknowledged the olive branch from the Ethiopian leader. The peacekeepers are instrumental in the fight against Al-Shabaab militants who control large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia.
