The narcotic division of Federal Police of Ethiopia has arrested 56 foreigners from 15 different countries involved in cocaine and cannabis trafficking. The police have the captured narcotic drug trafficking, according to Commander Mengisteab. If someone is captured trafficking narcotic drugs, he/she will face a minimum penalty of 5 year and up to 100,000 birr ($3,600) penalty, according to Ethiopian criminal law. He stated that if the public closely work with the police and other security agencies, the effort to control narcotic drug trafficking in Ethiopia will be fruitful. There is also an increasing use of postal and courier services for cocaine, heroin and hashish.
