Ethiopia has denied reports it had suspended the licence of the Reuters news agency. Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority Director Getachew Dinku told VOA Amharic that the Authority did not revoke the licence of Reuters Addis Ababa correspondent’s Giulia Paravicini, contradicting his deputy Wondwosen Andualem who had told Sheger radio on record earlier in the day that her license had been suspended. Getachew said they had only called for a discussion with the correspondent who travelled to the conflict zone without a permit. He said they told the journalist that they would complain to Reuter’s East Africa service in Nairobi when she failed to appear for a scheduled meeting.
