China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa, urging deeper cooperation with one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies across infrastructure, green industries and the digital economy. Wang said Beijing was ready to better align its development strategies with Ethiopia to elevate their “all-weather strategic partnership," Reuters reported. Wang called for faster upgrades in trade and economic ties and for advancing what he described as “high-quality Belt and Road cooperation” between China and Africa, state news agency Xinhua reported. He also urged Ethiopia to provide a supportive environment for Chinese companies and described the country as playing a vital role in regional and global affairs. Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration in trade, infrastructure, energy, transport and legal cooperation, while expanding into areas such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence and green energy, as well as culture, tourism, education, media and think-tank exchanges.
