Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of Türkiye, arrived in Addis Ababa today for talks with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD). Observers expect the talks will revolve around Somalia’s territorial integrity following Israel’s recognition of breakaway Somaliland, as well as developments in Gaza. The Turkish President was scheduled to land in the UAE ahead of his Ethiopia visit, but plans changed owing to an unnamed illness affecting President Mohamed bin Zayed. A social media post from the Office of the Prime Minister said the two leaders are expected to “discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest” during Erdogan’s stay.
