Ministry of Public Enterprises (MoPE) made 10 times more than what it had targeted for the just ended fiscal year. By the beginning of the fiscal year, the Ministry’s plan was to collect 2.11 billion Birr from privatization. According to Girma Amente, Minister for Public Enterprises, the collected amount is 12.6 billion Birr. The highest revenue was generated from the transfer of 2 public enterprises, Girma explained. During the first month of the fiscal year, Ethiopia made the biggest ever privatization deal with Japan Tobacco Inc.
