Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has helped mediate between the presidents of Somalia and Kenya on issues bothering both countries. Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya was expelled last month, following reports that Somalia was auctioning off oilfields in a contested area. Somalia denied it was selling the blocks and had taken Kenya to the International Court of Justice over the issue, which has yet to be resolved. Abiy Ahmed, met with the two leaders on Wednesday to discuss extensively on the source of the dispute. As an outcome, both agreed to work towards peace and to take measures in addressing particular issues that escalated the tensions.
