Reports indicate that Ethiopian authorities have restricted access to social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter in the nation's capital, Addis Ababa, amid an uptick in ethnic clashes, Africa News reported Dec. 11. The violence has reportedly occurred in the Oromia Region, and some independent Ethiopian news sources report that 15 people have been killed in clashes with security forces there. Though the situation is not nearly as unstable as in 2016, the drivers of ethnic unrest have not been resolved.
