Ethiopia has fired back at the League of Arab States, saying the country will not be intimidated over its plans to continue filling the Grand Renaissance Dam. In response to the Arab League, Ethiopia said it noted with dismay that the resolution adopted by the recent Summit of the League of Arab States “echoed Egyptian hostile rhetoric” regarding the dam. It runs contrary to the cherished and shared history of the peoples of Africa and the Arab world,” said Ethiopia. Ethiopia said it was confident that members of the League, particularly the Member States of the African Union, would disassociate themselves from this resolution. An attack on the dam at this point would result in massive flooding of Sudan’s Blue Nile River.
