Ethiopia: Electricity project to increase grid capacity in the east


The African Development Bank has approved $104 million in financing for a transmission project to improve Ethiopia’s electricity supply. The financing includes a $52m grant from the African Development Fund, the Bank Group’s concessional lending arm. Batchi Baldeh, the Bank’s Director of Power Systems Development, said the project would improve access to electricity by increasing the capacity of the power grid in eastern Ethiopia.
