Ethiopia-Djibouti Railway Launches Commuter Train Service with 19 Stations


The Ethiopia - Djibouti Gage Railway Line has launched a commuter train service from Addis Ababa to Djibouti with 19 stations, adding five to the previously existing 14 stations. The Ethiopia - Djibouti Standard Gage Railway Line, a flagship Belt and Road Initiative of Ethiopia and Djibouti, in partnership with China, has been "in good progress over the last four years of operation," Damawit Moges, Ethiopia's Minister of Transport and Logistics, remarked, also noting "the need for increased efficiency and quality service delivery." Mrs. Dagmawit and Zhao Zhiyuan, China's ambassador to Ethiopia, have attended a seminar on 'Significance of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway for the Horn of Africa', and marked the commencement of the Addis Ababa - Djibouti commuter train service.
