Ethiopia Dam: Talks break down between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt

Yet as thousands of workers toil day and night to finish the project, Ethiopian negotiators remain locked in talks over how the dam will affect downstream neighbours, principally Egypt. However, Egypt and Ethopia, in separate statements, blamed Sudanese objections to the framework for the talks for the new impasse. Egypt, which gets more than 90% of its scarce fresh water from the Nile, fears the dam could devastate its economy.
