Ethiopia Coffee and Sidama Coffee greatly impacted the Ethiopia Premier League title race on Thursday when they beat leaders Mekelakeya and CBE respectively. Ethiopia Coffee beat Mekelakeya 4-0, while Sidama Coffee came from behind to upset CBE 2-1 to open up the title race. Ethiopia Coffee, meanwhile, struck quite early with Mesfin Tafesse on target in the ninth minute to go 1-0 up. Abdulkerim Worku doubled the advantage for Ethiopia Coffee at the half hour mark. Ethiopia Coffee leapfrog St George into third place on the log with 25 points, four points behind CBE in second with 29.
