Esperon: National Security Council to meet on July 27National Security Adviser Hermogenes C. Esperon said the National Security Council (NSC) is set to hold its first meeting on July 27, 2016. The NSC is the Philippine President’s principal forum for national security and foreign policy matters and consists of two distinct bodies — the Council Proper and the NSC Secretariat. The Secretariat is a permanent body that provides technical support to the Council Proper. Also expected to attend are council advisers, namely the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency director general, Armed Forces chief of staff, Philippine National Police chief of staff, and National Bureau of Investigation director. This will be the first NSC meeting convened under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
