The Achilles bug that has been plaguing the Edmonton Eskimos has reared its ugly head once again. The club suffered its latest in a long line of Achilles injuries Friday night, when newly acquired Canadian receiver Anthony Parker went down on a non-contact play in a 20-3 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at I.G. The six-foot-two, 215-pound University of Calgary product had to be helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his right leg, which he pointed to the moment he hit the ground. It’s the fifth year in a row at least one Eskimos player has suffered an Achilles injury, and the eighth such injury since 2015, beginning with John White, John Ojo, J.C. Sherritt, Marcus Howard, Mercy Maston, Brandyn Thompson and James Tuck. Email: gmoddejonge@postmedia.comOn Twitter: @GerryModdejonge
