NAIROBI, Kenya (TBEN) – Eritrea is mobilizing its armed forces and appears to be sending them to Ethiopia to aid its neighbors’ war in the Tigray region, according to activists and international authorities. Britain and Canada have issued travel advisories urging their citizens in Eritrea to be vigilant. Eritrean troops fought alongside Ethiopian federal forces in the war in the Ethiopian region of Tigray, which borders Eritrea, when that conflict erupted in November 2020. Eritrean forces were involved in some of the worst atrocities committed in the war – charges they deny. Tigray authorities now claim that Eritreans are rejoining the war that flared up again in August after fighting ended earlier this year.
