Environment Southland councillor Robert Guyton on Wednesday issued an apology for using his title to sign off emails when it was about a personal matter. “I sent emails from my council email account, signing off as a councillor, when in fact, I was emailing on a personal matter. It’s understood that Guyton wrote to people connected to the Hammer Hardware in Riverton, but signed it as a councillor of Environment Southland. Council chairman Nicol Horrell said the matter had been dealt with and councillor Guyton had apologised. “The emails are about a private matter that neither involves Environment Southland nor is the subject of the complaint,” he said.
