An "unauthorised burnoff" at a Christchurch garden centre is being investigated after it caused a thick blanket of smoke to cover the central city. Fenz risk management officer Wayne Hamilton said fire crews worked alongside ECan and Oderings Garden Centre to come up with a plan to extinguish the fire.
