The imposing of an entry fee of ₹25 at Tipu’s Fort here from May 1 has caught many visitors unawares. Officials pointed out that there was a slight dip in the number of visitors reaching the fort since the introduction of entry fee. Many people coming from other parts of the State come to know about the entry fee after reaching here. Apart from a Hanuman temple functioning inside the fort, Taluk Supply Office and District sub-jail are also functioning inside. Ramachandran said that levying entry fee at the fort without setting up proper facilities for visitors was akin to insulting the people of Palakkad.
