Local entrepreneur Uzair Essack is being featured in April’s Forbes magazine. He has made the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list. It went from earning R500 000 ($30 515) revenue in its first year to R34 million ($2 million) in 2019. The last time we checked in on him, he had just been announced as the winner of the 2019 Medium Business Entrepreneur of the Year category in South Africa’s premier annual entrepreneurial competition, the Entrepreneur of the Year competition. Contemplating the country’s economy post lockdown, Essack says we need to reduce our reliance on importation.
