Entertainer Chu Ke-liang dies at 70

Taiwanese actor and comedian Chu Ke-liang (豬哥亮) has died at 70 after a battle with cancer, according to his doctors at National Taiwan University Hospital, Monday. Chu passed away due to liver failure brought on by late stage cancer at around 5 a.m. Doctors say Chu died in his sleep. Chu first gained popularity in the 1980s as a television show host, standing out with his off color jokes, but ended up in deep financial straits due to gambling debts. Chu recently reconciled a long standing feud with his daughter, singer Jeannie Hsieh, earlier this year. He also starred in the local action-comedy movie "Hanky Panky" playing a martial arts master.
