One small error on a 100kmh stretch of road outside a Waikato school almost cost a parent and her four-year-old their lives. The Ōtorohanga District Council must have a very good reason for not reducing the speed limit near the tiny rural School. The school’s request has the support of the national charity Brake which works to prevent road deaths and provides support to families who have long called for a blanket speed reduction of 60kmh near all rural schools and a widespread 30kmh speed limit near urban schools.
