(Image source: edward stojakovic/Flickr)Eni has announced the start-up of the third production unit (T-2) of the Zohr project, increasing the installed capacity to 1.2 bcf per day, in less than a month after beginning the second production unit (T-1) of the Zohr project, offshore EgyptZohr is now producing 1.1 bcf per day in ramp-up, equivalent to approximately 200 mboe per day, of which 75,000 boe per day net to Eni at current working interest. The third unit confirms the programme pursued by Eni, its co-venturers and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to pursue a production level of two bcf per day by the end 2018, followed by a plateau of 2.7 bcf per day in 2019. The Zohr field is one of the largest gas discoveries in Africa and in the Mediterranean Sea with more than 30 tcf of gas in place. Eni has been present in Egypt since 1954, where it operates through its subsidiary IEOC.
