It is also gratifying that the PAC will be given more “bite” to scrutinise the Auditor-General’s annual reports during the Parliament meeting next month. Previously, the PAC could only give its recommendations to the government after scrutinising the AG’s annual reports. These included the establishment of six Select Committees to study Bills aimed at enhancing the country’s system of governance as well as making it more accountable. Perhaps matters related to institutional reforms may not have an immediate impact on the average Malaysian struggling with day-to-day issues. These would, in turn, enhance the country’s body politic as well as help instil a culture of integrity among our policy makers.
