New Zealand's test cricket pitches have come under attack again, this time from former England captain Mike Atherton and the British media. And fresh after an extraordinary attack by George Dobell, a senior correspondent for ESPN Cricinfo, who labelled New Zealand's pitches "poor, shocking … and killing test cricket" came the volleys from Atherton in The Times and veteran scribe Scyld Berry in The Telegraph. Atherton said this test series "will be little remembered" as it "slipped gently into the history books". AP England's rising fast bowling star Jofra Archer had a test series to forget in New Zealand. "Attritional test cricket demands an exceptional amount of skill, patience and hard work by batsmen, bowlers and fielders.
