Gabriel fluffed the straightforward chance, a second such reprieve in Stokes’s otherwise masterful innings, and the all-rounder duly completed his hundred from Roach’s next ball. “I guess you get some luck every now and then,” Stokes said last night. “To do well, you need luck on your side. On another day, they hold it and you’re walking off.”In contrast with the crisp strokeplay of the rest of his innings Stokes described the ungainly shot he played on 98 in typically colourful terms.
