Archer bounced Abid Ali in the over before he dismissed him with a fuller deliveryJofra Archer and Chris Woakes made amends for England’s slow start to the first Test match with a wicket apiece in the second hour at Emirates Old Trafford. Archer bowled the opener Abid Ali with a terrific delivery while Woakes trapped the Pakistan captain Azhar Ali leg before for a six-ball duck. Pakistan were 53 for two at lunch with Shan Masood unbeaten on 27 and Babar Azam four not out. The openers Masood and Abid Ali successfully saw off the new-ball burst from James Anderson and Stuart Broad, justifying Azhar Ali’s brave decision at the toss to bat first. It was to Archer’s first ball after the drinks break that Abid Ali was bowled by a delivery of good length that nipped back.
