The Enforcement Directorate launched an operation across multiple locations in Kolkata, including the residence of businessman Biswajit Poddar alias Sona Pappu in Fern Road near Kasba, early Wednesday morning over money-laundering and extortion charges. Pappu apparently holds sway over the prime south Kolkata localities of Kasba and Ballygunge and reportedly has several FIRs against him over various allegations. Kumar was called for questioning within 48 hours of ED raids across multiple locations in Kolkata and the districts. The central team has also conducted a search at the multi-storey flat of a businessman in Ballygunge Place, Kolkata. ED sources claimed that the search operation was conducted on charges of financial corruption.
