Energy drink causing ‘6 hour prolonged erection’ finally banned in Zambia

An energy drink manufactured in Zambia has been banned by authorities after investigations found it contains sildenafil citrate which is used to treat erectile dysfunction. The drink, Power Natural High Energy Drink SX, is produced by Revin Zambia Limited, a company located in Ndola in the north of the country. Despite the ban, BBC reports that demand for the energy drink has shot up and is still being sold in shops in the capital city of Lusaka. Manufacturers of the drink, who denied it contained such drugs in January, are yet to respond to the ban. What many people do not know is that sildenafil can also be used to treat pulmonary hypertension, heart disease and altitude sickness.
