The experts stated this during a Zoom seminar with the theme, ‘Talking suicide 1.0’, organised by a non-governmental organisation, Suicide is No Solution. One of the discussants, Funso Adegbola, who called for the abolition of the prosecution of suicide survivors, noted that prosecution could further frustrate the victims. She said, “I think that psychiatrists should take on the Nigerian Bar Association so that the law recommending the prosecution of surviving suicide victims could be abolished. Attempted suicide victims should be sent to mental institutions and not prisons.
