Encroachments, including a temple at an intersection in Virugambakkam, have made a stretch of Arcot Road — from La Chatelaine Residential School to Freight Container Warehouse in Virugambakkam — highly accident-prone. Residents say there are many educational institutions in the vicinity and the encroachments make it difficult for students and their parents to navigate the stretch. Those who chose to skip the chaotic Arcot Road and Anna Main Road and P.T. Residents say traffic police personnel should prevent motorists from parking their vehicles near the intersection. “We will take necessary steps to remove the illegal structure that is encroaching upon Arcot Road and ensure free movement of vehicular traffic,” says a Corporation official.
