Dahlia El Deeb, director of corporate social responsibility at Microsoft Egypt, said the company made a contribution of $2.8m in 2016 in the form of software, while the total global contribution of the company in social responsibility amounted to $465m. She told Daily News Egypt that the company offers many programmes for the development of society in Egypt, including the Egypt Initiative, which is aimed at training 120,000 youth. According Abir El-Helw, consultant of the database project at the Ministry of Social Solidarity, during the establishment of the database, about 47,000 civil associations were counted, but only 28,000 of them are still operative. Through this portal, the associations will disclose their final accounts results and activities, indicating to donors how their donations are to be disbursed. This came on the sidelines of the conference organised by Microsoft Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) titled “Empowerment and Technological Integration of NGOs”.
