From D.C. to Sacramento, the controversial levies include everything from a "wealth tax" to new charges on ammunition and groceries. A Democratic Connecticut state legislator introduced a bill on Monday that would raise the tax on ammunition in the state by 50 percent. While the bill has faced some opposition, lawmakers looking into property tax relief proposals say that so-called “sin taxes” – those on alcohol, tobacco and gambling – make sense.
