Employment Relations Authority dismisses Et Tu union's claims

Employment Relations Authority dismisses Et Tu union's claimsPhil Reid The Employment Relations Authority ruled in favour of Armourguard after a complaint was lodged by the E Tu union. An employment tribunal has dismissed a complaint by the E Tu union that Armourguard did not allow security guards to meet with union officials while working at Work and Income sites. E Tu took its case to the Employment Relations Authority this year, claiming Armourguard was not complying with the Employment Relations Act 2000, relating to access to workplaces, which was a breach of its collective agreement with staff. In a recent ruling, the authority cleared both the ministry and the company of any wrongdoing, leaving negotiations to carry on between Armourguard and E Tu. E Tu had wanted a compliance order against the ministry requiring it to allow the union access to all Work and Income offices in New Zealand.
