There are numerous studies that show the importance of employee happiness, and how this contributes to workplace productivity. This was shown by a recent ‘Happiness Poll’, commissioned by Wrike, of 4,000 employees across the UK, Germany, France and the US. This is part of a wider piece of work looking at culture, compensation, and collaboration for workplace well-being. In the UK, the highest ranked factor contributing to workplace happiness was ‘doing meaningful work’ and feeling connected to a purpose. If work is making them unhappy, employees are far more likely to find ways to change that and are even willing to take a pay cut in order to do so.
