A week of explosive story lines including Charity Dingle's tragic past and Ross Barton's return to crime are teased in a dramatic new Emmerdale trailer released ahead of The British Soap Awards. The minute-long preview gave fans their first look at a groundbreaking flashback episode which will see a 14-year-old Charity (played Mica Proctor) as she was raped and groomed by DI Bails. Bosses have teased a 'massive surprise' set to be revealed in the episode, with some fans wondering whether it could be the rumour that Charity's son is actually still alive. The trailer shows Lachlan watching on as B&B owner Doug is arrested for Gerry's death, as police believe his negligence caused the ceiling collapse which killed Gerry. Meanwhile pregnant Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) is forced to rush to her first scan at the last minute after mixing up the dates, with further worry coming from the fact that she cannot get in touch with fiance Paddy (Dominic Brunt).
