Both Sala and pilot David Ibbotson are missing presumed dead after the Piper Malibu aircraft went missing on January 22. David Mearns, a renowned shipwreck hunter who headed the private search for Sala, tweeted: "Wreckage of the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and piloted by David Ibbotson was located early this morning by the FPV MORVEN. "The families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been notified by Police. But on his planned return to South Wales, the aircraft carrying the forward disappeared from radars.
