The coronavirus outbreak has seen the European Championships scheduled for this year moved to next summer, giving Mancini another year to plan his Italy squad. The Italy international started the season apparently in Lampard’s plans, and has made 13 Premier League starts over the campaign, but only one since the turn of the year due to injury and falling out of favour. Berardi is in a similar situation, having spent his entire career at Sassuolo and his international manager wants to see some more progression from him. ‘If the likes of Federico Chiesa were to move to a bigger club and play international club football, that could also speed up the maturation process.
