FILEA helicopter has been called to the aid of a person involved in a serious crash near Taupō. A police spokeswoman said they were called to a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 5 in Iwitahi near the intersection of Taharua Rd about 1.30pm. One person has suffered serious injuries. The highway was down to one lane and the Serious Crash Unit was attended, she said. A Fire and Emergency NZ spokeswoman said a fire crew from Taupō had helped paramedics at the scene with first aid and that a helicopter had arrived at the scene.
