Emergency services were alerted after bitumen began leaking on a main highway in Taranaki from a trailer that detached from a truck on Monday. The crash happened about 10.50am on State Highway 3, Mountain Rd, Ngaere, and police, firefighters and St John ambulance staff are attending the scene. “A truck has lost its trailer on State Highway 3 between Sole Rd and Finnerty Rd.”SIMON O'CONNOR/Stuff Bitumen was leaking from a trailer on SH3, near Ngaere, after it became detached from the truck towing it on Monday. Fire and Emergency New Zealand communications central region shift manager Mike Wanoa confirmed the callout had been upgraded after the trailer began leaking bitumen near a waterway.
